Free Online Web Marketing Tools Any Online Business Can Use

Business requires marketing. Without getting the word out to potential consumers, a business leaves its success in the hands of fate. The Internet has created enormous opportunities for just about anyone to start and operate a business and they can do so from practically anywhere in the world. It has also created a tremendous amount of competition; businesses must compete for the Internet users that are searching for products and services they offer. The obvious solution is to advertise. Paid advertising can certainly bring consumers to the web-based business, but there are still no guarantees of making sales so many business owners shy away from these campaigns, at least in the beginning.

There are many different ways to market a business that will not cost any money. They will only require an investment in time and effort to be successful. While many new small business owners think about marketing a website as being exclusively an Internet venture, this is not the case; there are also many wonderful opportunities in the real world to market an Internet-based business. The idea between a million dollar campaign and a free one is the same: get customers to know the business or product name and inspire interest.

Below is a list of five free online web marketing tools that any online business can use to promote their business and/or associated website and attract customers and eventually boost sales.

  1. YouTube. Google's video sharing site, YouTube offers any business the opportunity to share videos that can promote their website or particular products or services. For example, perhaps you have a computer repair business. You could post a free instructional video about how to change a RAM card or a memory battery in a particular laptop. YouTube allows you to post videos for free.
  2. Craigslist.org. A powerful online classified ad board. Any business can post ads on products or services they offer with links to their website or an address to their physical location. Craigslist is region specific so when you place an ad in Los Angeles, you will not unnecessarily target people in New York, or elsewhere.
  3. Twitter. Twitter is a social networking site that allows people and businesses to stay connected with others who are interested in what they have to say or offer. Twitter is based on 'followers' and there is no limit to how many followers you can have on your account. You can post and share articles or blogs related to the products or services that you offer, as well as promote certain specials that you may have going on at any particular time. Twitter has become enormously popular and as you build a larger following, you directly reach those people every time you post an update. This is wonderful for time-sensitive or seasonal promotions that you may have in place.
  4. EzineArticles. Writing articles that offer invaluable information about certain topics, items, or services of interest can help promote your business. For example, let us say you run a travel agency. You could post articles about destination locations around the world, promoting their attractions and how it would be an ideal vacation for just about anyone.
  5. Tube Mogul. Similar to YouTube, TubeMogul allows a business to create videos and then within a short period of time, will submit the video to a variety of video sharing sites. This increases the traffic that will potentially view your videos as well as the potential interest in your business.

With YouTube receiving more than one billion views per day for its online videos, Twitter continuing to grow and register an Alexa.com rank of 14th in the world of website visits per day, and EzineArticles continuing to grow, these five marketing techniques offer the average business owner access to countless people throughout the world.

Free marketing techniques abound and if you are serious about promoting your online business, it is important to take the time and make the concerted effort to enlist at least a few of these methods.
